Domestic pepper prices

The survey shows that pepper prices today continue to remain stable for the third consecutive day at 145,000 - 146,000 VND/kg.

Currently, the purchasing price of pepper in key markets fluctuates between 145,000 - 146,000 VND/kg; The average price of pepper is 145,500 VND/kg.

Specifically, today's pepper prices in Gia Lai and Binh Phuoc provinces have little change compared to the previous trading session. Currently, the price of pepper in these two localities is purchased at 145,000 VND/kg.

Similarly, pepper prices in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Dak Nong provinces continue to maintain stable prices and stay at a fairly high level. Currently, the purchasing price in these two provinces is at 146,000 VND/kg.

Pepper prices in Dak Lak, after a slight increase, have also leveled off compared to the previous trading session, currently the purchasing price of pepper is at 145,500 VND/kg.

According to data from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), domestic pepper prices in the last 3 months of 2024 remain at 140,000 - 150,000 VND/kg, a significant increase compared to the beginning of the year (black pepper increased by 75% compared to the beginning of the year). .6% and white pepper increased by 68.8%). Export prices also had similar growth, 30.7% for black pepper and 28.6% for white pepper.

According to statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, in the first 15 days of January 2025, Vietnam exported 7,313 tons of pepper, with a total turnover of 48.3 million USD, down 3% in volume but up 61%. .86% in value compared to the same period in 2024.

Besides, in the first 15 days of January, Vietnam imported 1,241 tons of pepper, with a turnover of 7.9 million USD. Vietnam imports mainly from Indonesia, accounting for 77.6%, reaching 963 tons, including 746 tons of white pepper. KSS, Olam Vietnam and Phuc Thinh are the three main importers reaching 221 tons, 183 tons and 115 tons respectively.

World pepper prices

On the contrary, the Brazilian pepper market, after many stable sessions, anchored at a high level, has turned down sharply, down 200 USD/ton, currently the price is at 6,150 USD/ton.

The export market for Vietnamese pepper is stable and relatively decreasing. Specifically, the export price of Vietnamese black pepper currently reaches a price of 6,350 USD/ton with the 500 g/l type and the 550 g/l type reaching a price of 6,650 USD/ton; White pepper price is at 9,550 USD/ton.

On the international market, pepper prices in major producing countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and Brazil continue to remain stable. Malaysia currently holds the highest price in the world, especially ASTA white pepper reaching 11,600 USD/ton.

It is forecast that global pepper prices will continue to remain high in 2025 due to reduced supply in many countries. In Brazil, pepper output in 2024 will decrease sharply by 29% due to the effects of climate change, however, the situation may be better in 2025 if weather conditions are favorable.
