The turnover and volume of rubber imported from Cambodia increased dramatically in the first months of the year.
According to the General Department of Customs, in the first 6 months of 2022, the total import and export turnover between Vietnam and Cambodia reached more than 6 billion USD.
In which, Vietnam's exports reached 3.22 billion USD, up nearly 36% over the same period last year (equivalent to 850 million USD).
According to updated information of the General Department of Customs, from the beginning of the year to July 15, the whole country imported more than 1.22 million tons of rubber, with a turnover of more than 1.82 billion USD; exported more than 890 thousand tons, turnover of more than 1.53 billion USD.
Major export groups of Vietnam with a turnover of 100 million USD or more, such as iron and steel; textiles; Petroleum; raw materials for textiles, leather and footwear; fertilizer.
In contrast, Vietnam's imports from neighboring countries reached 3.08 billion USD, up 7.3% over the same period last year.
The largest group of imported goods from Cambodia is cashew nuts with a volume of 659,918 tons, with a turnover of 1 billion USD. However, this result decreased sharply compared to the same period last year (the same period last year reached more than 1 million tons, turnover of 1.7 billion USD).
Notably, the import of rubber products increased sharply. Specifically, by the end of June, the amount of imported rubber was 714,740 tons, with a turnover of 823.57 million USD, an increase of 44.73% in volume and an increase of nearly 57% in turnover.
The higher growth rate of turnover in terms of volume shows that the average import value of this group of goods also increased higher than last year. In the first 6 months, the average value was USD 1,152.26/ton, up 8.35% (equivalent to approximately USD 89/ton).
